Did Talksport explain why he wasn't there?
Did they say they invited him?
Does this mean the LibDems cannot have a position diffeent from e Tories
Has Clegg assimilated his entire party into the merchant classes' machine, The Borg?

Quote:
'Why I'm certain my friend Dr Kelly was murdered'

By Andrew Malone, Last updated at 8:18 PM on 10th July 2010

His friend: Mai Pederson has damming new evidence to suggest Dr David kelly's death was not a suicide

They used to walk the streets of Baghdad together after dark.

She liked to clear her head after the tensions of the day; he wanted to compensate for the missed strolls he normally took in the Oxfordshire countryside near his home.

But these nightly outings for David Kelly, the ill-fated weapons expert, and Mai Pederson, his beautiful young U.S. military interpreter, also provided an intriguing insight into how perilous the British scientist's position had become.

A senior member of a United Nations inspection team in Iraq, Kelly's mission was to discover whether Saddam Hussein was hiding weapons of mass destruction - and to determine whether America and Britain would go to war.

The stakes could not have been higher.

To help him deal with obfuscating Iraqi officials, he was assigned Pederson, a gifted linguist with the U.S. Air Force who also had secret, high-level links to American intelligence.

Beguiled by his mysterious younger colleague, Kelly asked if he could walk with Pederson at night.

And so an unlikely relationship blossomed on the dark streets of Baghdad.

That friendship deepened when, one night in 1998, five years before the U.S. and Britain invaded, the pair shared a life-or-death experience on a stroll around the Iraqi capital.

Suddenly, a red laser dot appeared on the British scientist's clothes over his heart: an unseen sniper had him in his sights.

The laser beam moved slowly upwards until it was trained on the centre of Kelly's forehead.

Amid unbearable tension, the red dot remained t here for what seemed like an age.

The sniper didn't pull the trigger - it was simply a warning. Iraqi officials brushed off the incident, sniggering that it was just 'kids playing around'.

But Kelly knew his life was in grave danger, informing his younger companion that he had been told by intelligence sources that he was number three on a Saddam Hussein death list as a result of his work.
David kelly

Shrugging off the risks, he told Pederson he couldn't abandon his mission, but that he expected to be found dead in the woods near his home in Oxfordshire, rather than in Iraq.

It was a claim he repeated to other close friends. It turned out to be a chillingly accurate prediction.

Memories of those tense, heady days and nights came flooding back for Mai Pederson this week as the seventh anniversary of the death of David Kelly, her close friend and confidante, approaches on July 17.

It is a tragedy which continues to be cloaked in controversy.

'We started out as work colleagues and he became like an older brother to me,' she told me when we met this week in America.

'He was a man of impeccable integrity, honour, dignity and respect. His family meant everything to him, as did his work.

'It is time the facts came out.'

Pederson hasn't met with Kelly's wife since his death, but Mrs Kelly did testify to the Hutton inquiry that Pederson was 'influential' in his life and had become a family friend.

Kelly, as is now well-known, was found dead in the woods near his home in July 2003, having supposedly used a blunt knife he'd had since he was a boy to hack into a tiny, deep vein and bleed to death - even though little blood was found at the scene.

Despite leaving no note for his wife or his beloved daughter, who was due to get married three months later, the government's Hutton Inquiry into his death concluded in 2004 that Kelly committed suicide after being named as the source of a BBC report suggesting that Tony Blair's spokesman 'sexed up' intelligence about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction in order to justify going to war against Iraq.

After repeated calls for a full inquest into Kelly's death, the Labour government instead decided that official papers about the affair should be kept secret for an unprecedented 70 years - and, even more bizarrely, the reason for that decision is itself a state secret.

But now, amid signals that the new British coalition government may re-examine this utterly perplexing case, Kelly's former translator - and spiritual soul-mate - has come forward to give the saga a dramatic, compelling new twist.

In damning evidence to the new attorney general, Dominic Grieve, who has indicated his 'concerns' about the case, Pederson revealed that Kelly could not have killed himself by hacking into his wrist - because he could only move his arm with difficulty due to an old injury.

'He couldn't even cut a steak,' says Pederson, holding her own arm out stiffly to mimic his disability.

'He hurt his elbow and was incredibly weak in that arm.'

She also rubbished claims he had taken 29 Co-Proxamol painkiller pills before cutting his wrists, saying he struggled to swallow pills.

For Kelly suffered from 'unexplained dysphagia' - a syndrome that can make it almost impossible to swallow pills, while food and other substances are ingested without a problem. This has been confirmed by other friends.

Pederson recalls offering him a pill for a headache which he refused, saying he couldn't swallow any pills and explaining he'd had the problem for years.

Speaking exclusively to the Mail, the twice-divorced Pederson - who is fluent in five languages - insisted that she was determined to honour the memory of a 'kind, brilliant man' by unearthing the truth about who really killed him, saying: 'This cries out for a formal, independent and complete review.

'If that means stirring the ashes, so be it.

'The death of David Kelly is not just about him or about the tragedy for his family - it affects all of us. The facts don't add up and the responses from the British government don't add up.'

More than anyone else - even, perhaps, including Janice, Dr Kelly's widow - Pederson knows the truth about Kelly's frame of mind at the time of his death, and, intriguingly, how he had even made plans for the future once the fuss over the BBC story had died down.

From the time in the late Nineties that they became acquainted, they made an unlikely pair. He, introverted and studious; she, Kuwaiti-born to Egyptian parents and vivacious.

According to an ex-husband, she was actually an American spy with eyes that could 'bewitch' any man.

After meeting in Iraq in 1998, right up to the day of Kelly's death, the pair spent as much of their time together as possible. When they were apart, they regularly kept in touch by phone and email.

Other staff on the UN weapons inspections team in Baghdad assumed the bearded, scruffy English scientist was as dull as he looked.

But after he started accompanying Pederson on her walks, she discovered a different side to Kelly.

While she listened in silence, she says, he chatted away animatedly about his wife and children and how he loved taking daily walks in the woods near his home. She found it distracting and relaxing.

Indeed, the pair became as close as it's possible to be without sharing a bed.

In the following years, Kelly made frequent trips to America to see her(he was often in the U.S. on UN business and for meetings with other top scientists).

He was also reputedly thinking about moving there permanently.

Between dozen of trips to Iraq on inspection tours, as Britain and America sought a legal case for war against Saddam, the pair met regularly at locations around the U.S from California to Alabama.

In a sign of just how deep their friendship went, Kelly was even officially registered as living at three houses Pederson owned in America.

This was, apparently, simply a favour to enable him to have US. credit cards with an American mailing address.

A devout agnostic, Kelly decided to convert without informing his wife to the Baha'i faith, the ancient Persian religion of which Pederson was a follower.

He gave up alcohol and started attending Baha'i meetings.

Not surprisingly, colleagues whispered that the pair were having an affair.

Could it have been true? 'I did not have an affair with Dr Kelly,'Pederson says firmly.' His family meant everything to him. I'd met his wife and daughters.

'His work was his mistress.'

Now 49,with piercing brown eyes, Pederson says the British academic - who was 20 years older - was not her type and it would, in any case, have been a court martial offence under U.S. military regulations to have an affair with a married man.

Yet her decision to submit this new dossier of evidence to the British government has reignited the politically charged debate about whether Kelly was murdered.

Already she has been attacked by John Rentoul, official biographer of the former prime minister (and, ironically, a columnist for The Independent, which denounced the Hutton Inquiry), has branded publication of her claims as' contemptible'.

BBC journalist Tom Mangold, meanwhile, denounced Pederson as a conspiracy theorist who must'believe in the tooth fairy' and demanded to know why she had taken so long to speak out.

Yet Pederson has tried to give evidence repeatedly.

In fact, less than a month after Kelly's death, she agreed to meet two British detectives who flew out from London to question her.

She spent two days telling them all she knew about the case and explaining why she believed the scientist could not possibly have committed suicide.

Yet, like many others in this saga of contradictory evidence and unanswered questions, her attempts to shed light on Kelly's physical as well as mental condition have been repeatedly rebuffed.

Indeed, two days after British police interviewed her and promised she would not be named on account of her sensitive work with the military her name was leaked to the then Labour supporting Times newspaper and she was portrayed as a shadowy Mata Hari figure.

While his family say Kelly was depressed, Pederson says he was nothing of the kind.

He had even phoned her at the height of the drama surrounding the row about the leaks to the BBC about the 'sexed-up' Iraq weapons dossier, cheerfully saying he was driving to a place in the West Country to escape the Press and that he would come out to see her in a couple of months.

Alarmed by the media attention after her identity was disclosed, Pederson moved in to Air Force accommodation to live in seclusion.

There, she privately offered to give evidence to the Hutton Inquiry on condition that her identity was disguised as it had been for British intelligence agents called to give evidence.

Hutton refused. More recently, frustrated by the lack of action over her evidence, her Washington lawyer Mark Zaid sent a letter last year to Baroness Scotland, the then Labour Attorney General.

Receipt of the letter was acknowledged in a single line reply from her office.
But,again,nothing happened.

Now,however, Pederson hopes someone will finally listen.

And yesterday she received a much more sympathetic response from the office of new Attorney General Dominic Grieve, advising her to speak to the group of doctors currently launching their own legal challenge to make all documents relating to his death public.

She does not, she insists, have a 'smoking gun' evidence of who killed Kelly or why.

But she's convinced he was murdered.

'None of it makes sense anyone can see that,' she says.

The suggestion that Kelly could have been murdered by British government agents seems preposterous.

But did the Establishment have evidence that a 'hit' was planned against Kelly by Iraq and fail to act?

There have been repeated rumours that police were aware he had gone missing long before his family reported him overdue from his walk.

Or could Iraqi exiles have silenced him because his claims (about there being insufficient evidence of weapons build up to justify an invasion of their country) were at odds with their desire to see Saddam deposed?

In truth, Mai Pedersondoesn't know the answers. But what she does know is that the official story has gaping holes.

She says:'The more time that passes with the Government ignoring the contradictory evidence, the more conspiracy theories will grow and faith and trust in the Government will lessen.

Legitimate questions deserve answers.

'The British Government owes him, his family and the country the full truth, whatever that might be.

Dr Kelly can no longer speak, so we must do so for him.'

There is, of course, a way for the new government to try to put an end to the controversy by seeking answers to the unanswered questions.

If there really is nothing to hide about the baffling death of Dr David Kelly, why, then, does so much remain hidden?

I really hate it when a 'witness' comes out of the woodwork years later and plays the good guy.

Why did they not speak up at the time?

If Kelly was such a good friend (as she claims), she would have or should have done something then, to upset the apple cart.

What is the real agenda here? How much did she get paid for the Daily Mail exclusive?

And finally, if she really wants to do something, a one time article in the Daily mail, that has not been picked up by other MSM, is as good as a chocolate fire guard.

She is mentioned in Baker's book so it isn't that new.

The Daily Mail continues with the David Kelly story - who'd have thought it!!!?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1297444/MI5-agent-told-Kelly-e xterminated.html

Quote:
KGB man: MI5 agent told me that David Kelly had been ‘exterminated'

Dr David Kelly: A KGB spy says that the doctor was 'exterminated'

The mystery over the death of David Kelly took a further twist last night after a former KGB officer said he had evidence that the scientist did not commit suicide.

Boris Karpichkov, who worked as a Russian spy for 15 years before fleeing to Britain, has sent a dossier to Attorney General Dominic Grieve in which he claims to relay information from an ‘MI5 agent’ that Dr Kelly had been ‘exterminated’.

His move comes amid increasing calls from within the Coalition Government for a full, independent investigation into Dr Kelly’s death.

Mr Grieve has indicated that he is ‘concerned’ by the growing scepticism among experts about the official version of events.

Dr Kelly was found dead in woods near his Oxfordshire home in July 2003, after the Government exposed him as the source of a BBC report questioning Tony Blair’s case for war in Iraq.

There was no full coroner’s inquest – instead, Lord Hutton chaired a public inquiry which concluded Dr Kelly died from loss of blood after slashing his left wrist with a blunt garden pruning knife.

A number of doctors have since come forward to say that the incision could not have caused his death.

Mr Karpichkov, who sought political asylum in the UK in 1998 and now has British nationality, says he met the ‘agent’, Peter Everett, on dozens of occasions while carrying out work for Mr Everett’s company Group Global Intelligence Services, which hiredex-MI5 operatives for corporate detective work and infiltration.

In the document sent to Mr Grieve, Mr Karpichkov says that during one of their meetings, two days after

Dr Kelly’s body was found, Mr Everett told him that Dr Kelly had been ‘exterminated’ for his ‘reckless behaviour’.

Mr Karpichkov, who says that Mr Everett indicated that he was an ‘active field operative’ for MI5, writes: ‘He told me that it was extremely uncomfortable, inconsistent and unusual for Dr Kelly to slash his arm in the way he did. He would have lost some blood, but it would not have been fatal.

‘He also claimed that it was not a coincidence that Special Branch officers were the ones who first appeared on the scene – they moved Dr Kelly’s body to another location, changed the original position of his corpse and took away incriminating evidence.

‘He added that the scene where Dr Kelly’s body was found was carefully arranged and completely “washed out”, including the destruction of all fingerprints. When I asked who was behind his death, he [Mr Everett] answered indirectly, saying the “competing firm”, which I took to mean MI6.’
KGB claim: Boris Karpichkov says that Peter Everett told him what happened to Dr Kelly

KGB claim: Boris Karpichkov had worked as a Russian spy for 15 years before fleeing to Britain

Last night, Mr Everett – who is believed to be in his late 50s and whose former company was registered to his home address in Dulwich, South-East London – admitted meeting Mr Karpichkov on a number of occasions, and recalled discussing the manner of Dr Kelly’s death.

He said: ‘We had a general conversation about the David Kelly case, in which I said that it was very unusual for him to have slashed his wrist in that way.

'That is all I said. I do not have any particular inside knowledge on it.’

Asked whether he was a current, or former, MI5 operative, he said: ‘I am not commenting on that.’

Asked if he had carried out work on behalf of the agency, he said: ‘I have spent a number of years working in the world of intelligence.’

Associates indicated that his work on behalf of security agencies was indirect, rather than as a paid operative.

Mr Karpichkov’s testimony reflects the continuing debate in the intelligence community and associated agencies over Dr Kelly’s death.

He fled to Britain from Latvia with his wife and two sons after being accused of stealing £310,000 from a failed bank, although he claims that he was framed by the Russian mafia.

According to Latvian newspaper reports, he was recruited by the regional KGB in 1981, trained at the Secret Services School and served as a special forces operative during the war in Afghanistan.

Agent: According to Boris Karpichkov Peter Everett told him that David Kelly was 'exterminated' for his 'restless behaviour'

Claims: Karpichkov identified this man as MI5 agent Peter Everett

After the Cold War, he was assigned to undercover work in Latvia.

Mr Everett’s former company, Group Global Intelligence Services, which was dissolved in 2006, normally operated in the shadows.

But in 2004, it was accused of placing six members of its staff at Manchester United’s Annual General Meeting as ‘plants’ to ask embarrassing questions about manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s transfer dealings.

At the time, Sir Alex’s business rival John Magnier was known to be hiring private eyes to investigate the United manager.

When confronted by journalists, Mr Everett said: ‘I was nothing to do with that side of the alleged operation.’

Ministers increasingly believe that the continuing speculation about Dr Kelly’s death – fanned by the fact that he emailed a friend on the morning he died to warn that there were ‘many dark actors playing games’ – will not end until a proper inquest is held.

Earlier this month, one of Dr Kelly’s close female colleagues, Mai Pedersen, wrote to Mr Grieve reiterating what she had first revealed in an interview in The Mail on Sunday in August 2008, saying that Dr Kelly had been too weak to cut his own wrist – because a hand and arm injury meant he even had trouble ‘cutting his own steak’, and he would have to have been a ‘contortionist’ to have killed himself.

She demanded a ‘formal, independent and complete’ review of the case.

Her claims are backed by 13 specialist doctors, who have compiled a dossier rejecting the Hutton conclusion on the grounds that the cut to the ulnar artery could not have caused death.

In addition, it was recently disclosed that Dr Kelly’s death certificate was not properly completed.

It was not signed by a doctor or coroner and does not state a place of death, leaving open the possibility he died somewhere other than where his body was found.

Furthermore, the pruning knife has been revealed to have had no fingerprints on it.

Campaigners are aggrieved by a mysterious decision to classify all evidence relating to the post-mortem for 70 years.

But they are encouraged by the fact that one of their most vocal supporters, Lib Dem MP Norman Baker, who has written a book questioning the Hutton verdict, is now a member of the Coalition as a Transport Minister.

A spokeswoman for Dominic Grieve said last night: ‘Mr Grieve expressed concerns about this issue when in opposition and has, since taking office as Attorney General, been exploring with ministerial colleagues any actions that may be taken.

‘No decisions have been made.’

I suppose its quite possible Dr Kelly was taken out by others other than UK sources but the Govt dont want to admit this to avoid embarrasment to itself and avoiding an international political scandal.

There is some truly significant stuff here. Private intelligence company involved?
Boris Karpichkov is saying MI6 and their police liason actually killed David Kelly quickly covering up the murder.

Detective Coe committed perjury.
And has almost certainly just lied again.
May be under 'heavy manners'.
What with a crooked MI5 and spineless news editors honest, brave Kelly never had a chance.

Key evidence: DC Graham Coe has spoken for the first time about finding the body of Dr David Kelly

At the Hutton inquiry Mr Coe denied anyone else had been present, but the former Thames Valley Police detective now says there had been a trainee police officer, whom he refused to name and said had left the force.

Dr David Kelly was on a hitlist

Dr Spertzel said: 'I know that David, as well as myself and a couple of others, were on an Iraqi hitlist."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1302939/Dr-David-Kelly-hitlist -says-UN-weapons-expert-calls-grow-inquest.html

Begs the question.. Whose Iraqi hit list?

You didn't quite hear him right.

Daily Mail wrote:
The Mail has a healthy scepticism of conspiracy theories. But what is certain is that, until the full facts of Dr Kelly’s death are established, there will be a question mark over the very honesty of the British establishment.
That is why the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve, should waste no more time in announcing a full inquest. The truth must be told – however disturbing it may be.

It's a possibility that Spertzel is being brought in to muddy the waters in the enquiry. Put the blame on Iraqi agents?

Seven years on the Kelly family finally speaks out at last.
Mind you of course it could have been the press that wouldn't print what they wanted to say.
Crucial difference though and at the crux of press freedom on all the issues such as 911 and 77 as we speak.

It was never suicide, says Dr Kelly's cousin as family finally breaks silence
By Miles Goslett - Tuesday 17th August 2010
A close relative of Dr David Kelly broke the family's silence yesterday to voice fears that he was murdered.
Wendy Wearmouth said she found it 'incredibly unlikely' that he committed suicide and suggested he was assassinated.
She said that committing suicide would have been 'totally against his whole way of being'....

Yesterday on BBC radio news I heard a female minister (I think it was Home Secretary Theresa May but can't be sure) say she had never heard anyone allege that David Kelly had not committed suicide. She should speak to Transport Secretary Norman Baker. Don't these coalition members speak to each other?

I think we know which Intelligence Service-s it [probably] was.

Begs the question.. Whose Iraqi hit list?

One possibility which Norman Baker has raised is that he was murdered by the Iraqis who wanted the US to invade. That's the faction who after the invasion became the Iraqi government.

The US and UK lost three nuclear weapons each!
Part 3 - What went missing on Prime Minister Thatcher’s Watch?

As we have discussed in Part 2 of this current series many countries were involved in extremely disturbing activities and this was spearheaded by certain leaders and their senior staff members. It has clearly shown a trail of unbelievable corruption and gross neglect without any due concern as to the consequences of their actions.

So lets again visit the circumstance of the deal between the UK Government under Maggie Thatcher, the David Cameron entourage, the South African Government and the ruthless arms dealers. I would also like you to keep in mind the connection between the missing US Nuclear Missiles and the same shonky arms dealers.

First we must again identify the fact that there were originally 10 nuclear weapons and out of this batch one was tested, leaving 9 weapons in total. David Cameron went down to South Africa in 1989 to look into many aspects of the WMD programme. At the same time Dr David Kelly was very much involved in the CBW programme having had several visits with his South African counterparts. He was also knowledgeable about the weapons smuggling loop that existed in Africa. This also gave him access to the nuclear weapons proliferation programme in South Africa, especially South African nuclear bombs assembled with the help of Israeli nuclear scientists at the covert South African nuclear weapons facility at Pelindaba nuclear research facility, near Pretoria. We will see how [b]Dr. Kelly became involved in the nuke transfer further on in this article.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors who visited Pelindaba and the state-owned Armaments Corporation of South Africa (ARMSCOR) Advena nuclear facility near Pretoria in 1990 and 1991 were tricked into believing that South Africa's nuclear weapons had all been dismantled by the outgoing apartheid regime. However what they didn’t know is that after they had left South Africa things continued on as normal. I again repeat that both the US and UK Governments were very much aware of the existence of these weapons with Maggie Thatcher rubbing her hands together in preparation of receiving a significant contribution to party funds……..David Cameron and his sidekicks also were very much part of these shady goings on!

Now we come to the deal of getting the weapons out of South Africa, how they were transported and where they ended up. Let me remind you that we are talking here about three armed – ready to use – nuclear bombs courtesy of the Israeli technicians that had worked on this project. We can then look at who was involved, how the payments were made and how they eventually went missing.

The plan was originally to re locate these weapons to some remote railway sidings and then to load them into 3 standard 20 foot ISO containers (one bomb per container) and export them with a false manifest showing them as metal cylinders. The main players in this were a British Company called Astra and a South African Company called ARMSCOR. At Government level it would be dealt with primarily by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) who would use MOD money. This alone gives some indication as to why this deal became so very special and confidential. One must also include the middle man in this entire deal who would bring all parties together and get the job done. To name names obviously the “Iron Lady” is right in there and also her son Mark Thatcher, then we have David Cameron and that illustrious man who accompanied him to South Africa with the initials KW. The middle man and notorious arms dealer was John Bredenkemp. We also have to add John Major into the story as he also became part of this shonky deal.

In order to keep this out of Parliament and out of the public domain Maggie Thatcher was asked to sign off these weapons under a special Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) and was shown as metal cylinders and not nuclear bombs. This was done completely under the table and this knowledge was not known to anyone else. This document was signed before she left office in late 1990.

The next phase was that once the weapons had left South African soil then the British Government would reimburse ARMSCOR (The South African Arms Trading Company), Astra (The British arms company) and the middle man John Bredenkemp……compliments of the British Tax Payer.

It should be noted here that ARMSCOR has now split and the arms side has now become a company called Denel (Pty) Ltd…basically they both work together. ARMSCOR advertise themselves as “Gateway to Defence Solutions” and Denel has branched out into a diverse empire covering Aviation, Weapons and systems etc.

So to recap we have 9 nuclear weapons in transit to Chicago, USA and 3 of those were to be used as a standby weapon for the Gulf War, These three were sent for storage to Oman where Dr. Kelly would carry out an inspection and safety check and upon completion the money would be paid to all those involved.

We must understand that this deal was all processed via the private sector which I find incredible to believe when one fully understands the implications of buying, selling and shipping ready to use nuclear weapons! What we see here is three South African nuclear weapons sold to "private investors"!
.
These containers were specially adapted to carry these highly mobile weapons from South Africa to a private storage facility in Oman for safekeeping. The containers had a special seal on the lock of the rear door of each container along with a temperature gauge in the front of the containers that was connected to the core of the bombs to indicate that the bomb was not overheating inside the containers.

The nuclear smuggling operations involved top members of the British Conservative Party, including individuals close to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, her son Mark as we have already said and at a later date other members of the Labour Party. Both parties received an increase in party funds with Conservative taking a massive share. One has to keep in mind the fact that their presence in South Africa was totally in violation of the embargo and also in violation of Nuclear Explosions Act

As for John Bredenkemp one cannot even attempt to calculate how much entered his wallet but as one normally expect this money is very quickly converted in gold bullion amounting to many kilos.

We will next look into what happened to these weapons once they had been placed in storage in Oman and how the British Taxpayer donated money for a very unprofessional operation that failed from the onset. Needless to say the nukes all went missing and one can clearly see that indirectly the taxpayer’s money ended up in the Party Politic Funds of both the Labour Party and Conservative Party.

Many investigations have taken place since this event, all of which are interconnected. Jonathan Aitken a Tory Party Defence Minister, Gerald Bull a Canadian who worked with Saddam, Gerald James Chairman of Astra and others. It became apparent just how sensitive thinks had become when Alan Clark the DTI Minister became involved as did Sir Ken Warren who was Chairman of Trade and Industry. The spiders web certainly implicated Tony Blair with his connections with Bernie Eccelstone who had managed to pop one million pounds as a donation to the Labour Party which was disguised as coming from the tobacco industry when in actual fact it was clearly from the gun running episode.

Tony Blair upon becoming Prime Minister in 1997 tried unsuccessfully to return the money to Bernie Ecclestone. This party donation was only a fraction of what the Tory Party received. All in all the tax payers money was fuelling the arms trade to both Iraq and Iran with the British Government at its heart. It is clear that both parties were all playing the same game and the end result certainly led to these weapons being used against our own forces, which frequently occurs around the world.

Tomorrow we see the commencement of the Iraq Inquiry…….yes folks another waste of tax payers money……will it bear fruit?.... I don’t think so!

What we have to remember is that both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown both summoned Maggie Thatcher to their office after taking office and one can only imagine that the missing nukes must play a major part of the discussion that were held within. That is why this inquiry has failed before it even started like all the others. The period of coverage does not go back far enough for it to become effective. The missing nukes play a major part in this inquiry but in actual fact is not part of its remit.

To date we have had two assassinations that of Gerald Bull who was assassinated by Mossad in Brussels in 1990 and our own dear Dr. David Kelly. Alan Clarke died of a brain tumor in 1999 and that just left Gerald James. The latter had a brush with death at the end of last year but they got one of his relatives purely by accident. When one looks at such inquires as the Matrix Churchill arms smuggling scandal we can clearly see how such inquiries fail. It is interesting to see such people as Ken Macdonald become a partner in Matrix Chambers who also happens to partner with Cheryl Blair….one can see that by its name and implications it is teasing those who only wanted to see true British justice take place……so lets see what Brown churns up tomorrow……..this could be the make him or break him opportunity…..don’t hold your breath!

Nicholas Hunt said it was 'textbook' so why was there no coroners inquest and the details locked up for 70yrs?

It is interesting that Mr Baker has not made any public comment in the last couple of weeks. Ian Collins said he was stopped from being interviewed on the late night show recently.

Is he being pressured?

Despite overwhelming evidence both circumstantial and forensic that Kelly was murdered by the very domestic (and 'allied') war criminals he was trying to expose......
You know, Britain's WMD liars.....
The media continue to try & confuse the public with idiotic unquestioned assertions.
Alistair Campbell is just the tip of the rotten iceberg.
And he is rolled out regularly by our complicit (bribed) media - particularly Newsnight, as a serious commentator!

Typical fact avoiding diatribe from Mr Nick Cohen.

Fails to address any of the substance around the medical evidence instead referring readers to David Arronovitch's piss poor book

I won't waste your time with the conspiracy theories that person or persons unknown murdered him. David Aaronovitch tells you all you need to know about their idiocies in Voodoo Histories, his magisterial destruction of conspiracy theory.

Sunday 22nd August 2010

Who Killed David Kelly? In the Observer today I look at the media's hatred of Tony Blair, which is building up in the advance of the release of his autobiography. The most distasteful manifestation of the mania is the conspiracy theory that Blair covered up the "murder" of David Kelly and maybe...

These ravings are not only coming from the Mail and Norman Baker, the conspiracy-loving Liberal Democrat MP, but from the Mirror, which ought to know better.

I point out that it is particularly rich for the media to blame others for Kelly's suicide, when the BBC broke the first, some would say only, moral principle it holds in his case and betrayed his source.

As I say

The BBC had a choice. It rightly guessed that Kelly would downplay his conversation with Gilligan. Even if the BBC's account of the briefing was true, Kelly could lose his job if he admitted to bad-mouthing his employers. The BBC ought to have accepted that if a source needed to say one thing in private and another in public, then its promise to protect him obliged the corporation to allow him the chance to protect himself. Instead, the BBC decided to burn him. Greg Dyke, its then director general, was as unthinkingly combative in his way as Campbell and Hoon were in theirs.

Susan Watts, an honourable reporter on Newsnight, told her editor that she had a tape of Kelly making some of the same criticisms Gilligan said he had made to him. She quickly became so worried about what her superiors were planning to do with her confidence she hired lawyers to protect herself and Kelly from "considerable internal pressure to reveal her source".

Gilligan then sent a fateful email to the office of David Chidgey, a Liberal Democrat on the foreign affairs committee. He told him Kelly was the source for Susan Watts's reports on Newsnight. The unstated implication was that Kelly could hardly maintain that he had not made damning comments about the government to the Today programme when he had made them to Newsnight as well. Chidgey pretended that he had spoken to Watts and asked Kelly about his contacts with her. Kelly lied and said that he was not the source of Watts's Newsnight report.

By the time he got back home, he was in the most terrible trouble. His employers suspected that he was not merely a civil servant who had had one unfortunate conversation with a journalist, but a serial briefer against the government. Susan Watts seemed willing to say he had lied to Parliament to boot. They demanded he give them a list of all the journalists he had spoken to.....You should ask why not only journalists looking after their own, but all the media studies academics and bloggers, who delight in pointing to our failings, do not want to talk about how the source of one the biggest stories of the 2000s was betrayed by the media.

The answer is that to his many enemies, Blair must be wholly evil while they must be wholly virtuous. In theory, they ought to be able to condemn his decision to commit Britain to the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, while looking honestly at David Kelly's suicide. In practice, they cannot, for any concession feels as if they are appeasing the most hated politician in modern British history.

Tom Mangold, who knew Kelly well, looks at the story in today's Sindie, and reaches the same conclusion.

Kevin Marsh, editor of the Today programme on which Gilligan made his remarks, said the piece was marred by flawed reporting, loose use of language, and lack of judgement in some of Gilligan's phraseology. To make matters worse, Gilligan had made notes on a personal organiser which never did retain a full and accurate record of the conversation with Kelly, and supporting hard copy notes that Gilligan says he made at the time were subsequently "lost".

Then, on 15 July, the Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing at which Kelly gave evidence. Kelly was asked by the then Liberal Democrat MP David Chidgey whether he had briefed the Newsnight reporter Susan Watts about the government's intelligence dossiers on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction. Chidgey then read to Kelly a very long quotation from the piece broadcast by Newsnight on 2 June.

Kelly replied he didn't recognise the words, became rather evasive, saying the words didn't sound like his, and finally specifically denied being the author of them. This was the lie that was to lead to his suicide.

I believe Kelly lied because he had been warned by his MoD bosses that if any other skeletons fell out of the cupboard involving him and unauthorised press briefings, his future would be in doubt. But he had already been betrayed: what the arms inspector never knew was that Andrew Gilligan, in a breach of journalistic ethics, had previously emailed Chidgey, suggesting that Kelly had indeed been the author of those words and the source for Watts's broadcast. Worse still, Kelly did not know when he gave evidence that Watts had, quite properly, recorded the interview with him for the purpose of record only. She had not warned Kelly.

But how did Gilligan know Kelly was the source? Watts didn't tell him. He says it was a lucky shot in the dark. But there is an alternative theory. Watts revealed Kelly's name only to her editor, George Entwistle. It is likely that Kelly's name reached top BBC bosses who needed to prove Kelly had briefed not only Gilligan but several BBC reporters. In turn, Gilligan, I believe, learned Kelly had been Watts's source. With this, Gilligan had the ammunition he needed to arm David Chidgey at the hearing.

Yet all this was unknown to Kelly on the morning of 17 July, his last day. Indeed, he was beginning to feel that he had probably got away with the lie. We know that, although he was tired, he was sufficiently cheerful to send several emails, all optimistic, to friends, looking forward to his scheduled return to Baghdad in a few days.

He had already been considering a new life. I know that he was planning to take a job at Stanford University, California, after his retirement a year later. This would have meant separation from his wife for at least a year. He had been partially dissuaded from this by a mutual friend, but the tensions in his private life had become as meaningful as his problems with Gilligan, Watts and his MoD bosses.

During that last morning, Kelly took several calls from Wing Commander John Clark who had become his MoD assistant-cum-minder during these difficult weeks. Some of the calls were routine, in connection with forthcoming parliamentary private questions about Kelly's journalistic contacts.

However, late in the morning, according to his wife, Kelly suddenly became withdrawn, silent, and thoughtful. With her keen sense of his unspoken moods, she felt so ill at the change that she went upstairs to throw up and then lie down. "I was physically sick because he looked so desperate ... I think he had a broken heart."

So what was the tipping point? Ironically, Andrew Gilligan appears to have the answer. Last week he wrote that Kelly had been caught out in an untruth "which, on the morning of his death, his bosses told him they would investigate". This is news.

If Gilligan is right, and I believe he is, then what changed Kelly's demeanour was a message he can only have received over the telephone. I believe that message could have been that the Susan Watts affair would shortly reveal him to have lied because the BBC had a tape recording of his conversation with Susan Watts.

If this message was passed to him - clearly not with malign intent - by someone in the MoD, it could have been what led to his suicide. For the first time, David Kelly was trapped.

The working-class lad from the Rhondda Valley who had fought his way to the top of his profession, relied on his integrity, honour and truthfulness. He could not afford the odium of exposure as a liar.

Rod Barton, an Australian arms inspector and close friend of Kelly's, told me: "David was jealous of his reputation and his dignity. He did not take criticism easily. One had to be very careful when expressing anything that could be construed as a negative view of his actions or opinions. He was exceptionally sensitive to even the slightest suggestion that he was not telling the truth."

The last time Wing Cdr Clark spoke to Kelly was at 2.53pm. Susan Watts's name came up. It was a significant discussion, for a decision had just been taken by the MoD on how to define Kelly's relationship with Watts, for the purposes of the formal replies to the parliamentary questions about Kelly's contacts with reporters. Her name, he was informed, was to be transferred from his list of generic or occasional contacts to more specific and detailed contacts. In other words, the net was closing in.

Only 10 minutes later, Clark phoned again. There was no reply. Kelly had gone off to kill himself. Clark phoned Janice Kelly. He was told David had gone for a walk. Clark asked Mrs Kelly to get David to call him on his return.

Then Clark did an odd thing. He called Kelly every 15 minutes on his mobile for the next hour and 50 minutes - seven to eight calls without a reply. Clark says he did this in case Kelly switched his mobile on. But one must wonder if Clark had inadvertently passed on to Kelly something so devastating, that in retrospect, he may have wished he hadn't told him, and maybe the urgency with which he tried, but failed, to call him back was to ensure David didn't do anything foolish. It was too late.

After Watergate, the Washington Post protected the identity of Deep Throat, the FBI official who guided its journalists through the scandal for 30 years. Bob Woodward, wrote a moving little book, The Secret Man, about a reporter's absolute duty to protect his or her sources. (I think it is still in print.) The BBC couldn't protect David Kelly for 30 days. If you want to begin to know why he died, and remember when a man kills himself without leaving a note you can never be certain, look here and not to the conspiracy theorists.

The media's part in the death of David KellyThe BBC, the press and politicians betrayed the MoD scientist. Trying to blame Tony Blair is ridiculous
(29)Tweet this (17)Comments (278)
Nick Cohen The Observer, Sunday 22 August 2010 Article history'Who killed David Kelly?" To the uninitiated looking for a thrill this silly season, the answer is clear. In the Mirror and the Mail, high-pitched voices from left and right say that at the very least his death was covered up by Tony Blair, a man they loathe so fervently they cannot even praise him for donating the proceeds of his autobiography to a veterans' charity. From the demented centre-ground of British politics comes Norman Baker, a Liberal Democrat MP, who by some extraordinary oversight is now a government minister. He has produced a book claiming Kelly was murdered by mysterious Iraqi forces.

To those who followed the affair in 2003, however, there ought to be no mystery. The reason for Kelly's death is a secret in plain view, which few can acknowledge because it chills the warm feelings of self-righteousness which Tony Blair's enemies enjoy.

Kelly was the BBC's source. The BBC betrayed him.

Allow me to drag up this ancient history because the reaction to it sheds light on the hysteria around Blair's autobiography, which is only going to get worse in the run-up to its publication.

Journalists do not only protect sources on the selfish grounds that the flow of information will stop if people with secrets know that the press will reveal their identities. There is a nobler sentiment at work. A reporter has given his or her word. If their sources are compromised, they may lose their jobs or lives. A promise is a promise and journalists have gone to prison rather than break it. Except the BBC did not honour its promise to Kelly. On a pledge of anonymity, he talked to Andrew Gilligan of the Today programme. Gilligan announced on air that a "senior official" in charge of compiling the government's dossier on Iraq's armaments had told him that the government had "sexed" it up and probably knew that its claim that Saddam could fire weapons of mass destruction in 45 minutes was wrong.

Sensing weakness, Alastair Campbell went on the attack. When Kelly told his superiors at the Ministry of Defence that he had spoken to Gilligan, Labour determined to "* Gilligan" as Geoff Hoon, the dreadful defence secretary at the time, put it. He insisted that Kelly give evidence to the foreign affairs committee.

They demanded he give them a list of all the journalists he had spoken to.

Kelly was due to return to Iraq for the MoD. He had the prospect of a good job in California on his retirement from the civil service. Suddenly, his pension and his chance of working again were vanishing. He faced the possibility of prosecution. On top of that, he had confusions in his private life.

Most important of all to a man who was proud to have worked his way up from the south Wales valleys, his credibility was disintegrating. He was an inspector on whose authority the world had learned of Russia's biological weapons programme. Now he risked seeming dishonest and ridiculous.

"David was jealous of his reputation and dignity," said his fellow arms inspector Rod Barton. "He did not take criticism easily." In as far as you can ever explain why someone decides to kill himself, you have to conclude that David Kelly took his life because his world was falling apart.

I won't waste your time with the conspiracy theories that person or persons unknown murdered him. David Aaronovitch tells you all you need to know about their idiocies in Voodoo Histories, his magisterial destruction of conspiracy theory. You should ask instead why not only journalists looking after their own, but all the media studies academics and bloggers, who delight in pointing to our failings, do not want to talk about how the source of one the biggest stories of the 2000s was betrayed by the media.

Never forget, though, that Blair is also the most skilful politician in modern British history. Look at how he is pushing his opponents into the corner reserved for crackpots – not that they need much of a shove. They assert without blushing that he is a miser when he keeps his money and a guilt-ridden hypocrite when he gives it away. They cannot just say that David Kelly was mistreated by the state he served as well as by the media. They must hint that the state covered up his murder or maybe killed him and the media were innocent bystanders

Without even trying, Blair is making his enemies seem small, mean and more than a little mad.

The last time Wing Cdr Clark spoke to Kelly was at 2.53pm....

Only 10 minutes later, Clark phoned again. There was no reply...

That's one interpretation. If Clark really did phone Kelly just before he went for a walk and then was checking up constantly - it definitely implies he knew Something...

A fine example of zio-speak from Cohen.

I'm beginning to wonder whether people like him, Aaronovitch, Monbiot etc are clones - they certainly use the same semantic tools to gull the ignorant...

And let's remember that Bliar (and whichever kidon carried out the likely murder), is just the whipping boy - just another Goldstein.

When do we shift focus from symptoms to causes?

Cohen and Airheadovich ARE the enemy.
Embedded in the London mainstream press.
Pity the poor printing machinery that churns out their Nazi apologist lies.

Kelly knew all about the 9/11 Anthrax letters and the international bioweapons mafia

British weapons inspector Dr. David Kelly was writing an expose about his work with anthrax and his warnings that Iraq possessed no weapons of mass destruction at the time of his death in July 2003, according to a report published in a British newspaper.

Kelly's death -- said to have been a suicide -- has stirred controversy, as it came on the heels of testimony to the House of Commons about a memo which purported that Britain had "sexed up" a dossier on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction. A Parliamentary inquiry ruled that the death had been suicide, though it also included testimony from a former British ambassador who quotes Kelly as having said, "I will probably be found dead in the woods" if Iraq were invaded.

The new report says Kelly had spoken with an Oxford publisher several times about a book.

"He had several discussions with a publisher in Oxford and was seeking advice on how far he could go without breaking the law on secrets," the UK Daily Express alleged.

Kelly's computers were seized in the wake of his death. He was a signatory to Britain's Official Secrets Act, which allows for the prosecution of those who talk to the press about state secrets and prescribes a more stringent framework for secrecy than in the United States.

According to the paper, "he was intending to reveal that he warned Prime Minister Tony Blair there were no weapons of mass destruction anywhere in Iraq weeks before the British and American invasion" and was also intending to lift the lid on a potentially bigger scandal, his own secret dealings in germ warfare with the apartheid regime in South Africa."

The allegations of a potential Kelly expose come from a new film about biological weapons being debuted in London on the sixth anniversary of Kelly's death titled "Anthrax War" (the documentary aired earlier this year on Canadian public television). Kelly was an expert in biological warfare agents, as well as a former United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq.

'Anthrax War'

The deeper you look into the murky world of governments and germ warfare, the more worrying it becomes," the film's director, Bob Coen, is quoted as saying. We have proved there is a black market in anthrax. David Kelly was of particular interest to us because he was a world expert on anthrax and he was involved in some degree with assisting the secret germ warfare program in apartheid South Africa.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's summary of the film, Coen "was raised in Zimbabwe where the former white regime has been accused of unleashing anthrax against the black population" [who] embarks on a journey that raises troubling questions about the FBI's investigation of the 21st century's first act of biological terrorism.

"Coen's investigation takes him from the U.S. to the U.K. and from the edge of Siberia to the tip of Africa. In a rare interview, Coen confronts 'Doctor Death' Wouter Basson, who headed Project Coast, the South African apartheid-era bio-warfare program," the network's website adds. "Project Coast used germ warfare against select targets within the country's black population.

"Anthrax War also investigates the mysterious deaths of some of the world's leading anthrax scientists, including Dr. David Kelly, the UK's top military microbiologist, the Soviet defector Dr. Vladimir Pasechnik, and Dr. Bruce Ivins," the CBC continues. "The FBI claims - despite the doubts of highly ranked U.S. officials - that Ivins was the only person behind the U.S. anthrax murders."

A spokeswoman for the attorney general said the files had arrived in the office this week after being requested "quite a while ago".

Officials will examine the documents this week before making recommendations to the attorney general, who has the power to order a full inquest.

I don't want to sound overly skeptical Rolling Eyes but if the files have taken "quite a while" to arrive, then how can we be certain that they haven't been altered? Get ready for a Princess Di level cover-up... ("No, m'lud, we have no files on Princess Di (We relied on the CIA to do it - how do you think we go the squidgy tapes?!) ")
