New book by the Reverend Stephen Sizer outlining the thinking of the Christian Zionist Evangelicals who look forward to their vision of Armageddon and the Rapture coming to take them away to their Millennial Kingdom. Presented here in audiobook form...

That was tiresome. Well, he's wrong. The Harlot = Religion. The Beast = the UN.

Please show me the Bible passages that lead you to believe that the UN might be The Beast of Revelation. It doesn't seem to have much relevance to first Century Christians.

Ken Gentry's opinion seems to be shared by at least some Catholics - that Nero Caesar was the likely one being referred to..

Revelation 13:1-3, "And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power and his seat and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death: and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast."
Compare Daniel 7: 7-26.

Ken Gentry first complains that people take the bible literally, then he takes it literally himself! I spent over 30 years studying the bible and came to the conclusions that:

1) Much of the bible isn't true in a literal way (although some of it is).
2) Bible prophesies often have more than one application/fulfilment or part fulfilment.
3) The bible is a collection of books from many sources, some of which are "pagan" and as such are much older than the bible, sometimes by tens of thousands of years.

Let's go back to Revelation 13.

"And I stood upon the sand of the sea and saw a beast rise up out of the sea,"

The 'sea' represents restless humanity and it was from this 'sea' that the Beast came. Compare Isaiah 57:20

"having seven heads"

Seven represents an off-world 'spiritual' complete number. The "heads" represent that influence upon the minds of the leaders of the world.

"and ten horns"

Ten represents a complete number but this time earthly (we count in tens) and the 'horns' represent the military power of these. Believe it or not when I was into religion I had a 'vision' which said, "The power of the Beast is in it's horns" - of course, a beast fights with it's horns and therefore, the horns represent the military power of the Beast.

"and upon his horns ten crowns,"

The ten horns (that represent many nations not just a literal ten) have ten 'crowns' or world leaders.

"and upon his heads the name of blasphemy."

A name in biblical terms represents a reputation, so those who control the beast by means of the 'heads' (where the mind is) give the Beast a bad reputation to those who can see what the Beast is. Orchestrating or even condoning the murder of many thousands of people is "blasphemy" as far as I, and many others are concerned.

Well, that's that cleared up then. The UN it is. The logic is undeniable. Why I couldn't see the obvious is hard to explain.

It was the EU a few years ago . Even MP and Rev Paisley made a stand against it when the Pope came and he denounced him in the parliament building as anti christ.

From my limited biblical studies i think Israel will be involved in the middle of it (wittingly or unwittingly). Certainly the Church of Rome and the papacy are recognisable in Revelation (seven hilled city and arrayed in gold and purple passages)

All intersting stuff but i will probably meet my maker long before seeing Revelation prophecies unfolding

Rev 17:9-11
http://isv.scripturetext.com/revelation/17.htm
"This calls for a mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is sitting. They are also seven kings. Five of them have fallen, one is living, and the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must remain in power[c] for a little while. The beast that was and is no longer is the eighth king,[d] but it belongs with the seven kings[e] and goes to its destruction"

“Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits, and they are seven kings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while. “The beast which was and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he goes to destruction.

Well, after spending many years trying to figure out Revelation we might understand what it means, or we might not. And while people are filtering their understanding of world events through what the bible says, they might begin to understand what is really happening, or they might not.

It is said that knowledge is power but what if our understanding is in error? Do we have the time today?

Scary nihilist theology

Overture to Armageddon: Want to be Left Behind?
https://www.stephensizer.com/articles/

The video game taking Christian America by storm, aptly titled ‘Left Behind: Eternal Forces’, encourages its players to kill anyone who resists conversion to Christianity. As Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft battle it out for domination of the electronic game world, the games’ creator anticipates a ready market among those who have already bought 63 million copies of the ‘Left Behind’ novels.

The game is set in New York City, a rather unusual venue for Armageddon you might think since New York doesn’t actually get a mention in the Bible. It is, however, the location of the United Nations headquarters and that is the clue. Never popular among conservative evangelicals, in Left Behind: Eternal Forces, the bad guys are the Global Community Peacekeepers, who are on a search and destroy mission in Manhattan. Their target is the remnant of newly converted Bible-believers, left behind when Christians were apparently raptured secretly to heaven. These new believers, left on earth, form a Christian army called the Tribulation Force.

Under the heading ‘Turn or Burn?’ a review by Focus on the Family suggests the game could well be an evangelistic tool for teenagers – “the kind of game that Mom and Dad can actually play with Juniorand use to raise some interesting questions along the way.” Perhaps anticipating a degree of incredulity on the part of some readers, the review asks,

How do peace and prayer go hand in hand with tanks, attack choppers and street battles? … Yes, you're offered sniper rifles, gun turrets, even tanks and helicopters. And there are points at which a gun battle is necessary to avoid a massacre. (When this happens, there's no gore. Units fall to the ground and fade away.) But if you go in guns blazing, nine times out of 10 you fail. It quickly becomes clear that the strongest weapons in your arsenal are your top-level missionaries and worship leaders. It's easier to convert a group of enemies than it is to shoot them. Still, post-Rapture warfare is integral to the game, as it is in the Left Behind books and movies.

In an interview with Tim LaHaye, the author of the Left Behind books on which the video game is based, Focus on the Family asked whether Christians will really be expected to militarize in the future?
