An explosive new book, published this week, reveals that top officers at Scotland Yard fraudulently fabricated key documents connected to the death of Princess Diana.
This authoritative, evidence-based book exposes fraudulent and illegal actions taken by senior British police officers in the aftermath of the 1997 Paris car crash that took the lives of Princess Diana and her lover, Dodi Fayed.
In Diana Inquest: Corruption at Scotland Yard investigative writer John Morgan reveals that police commissioners Lord Paul Condon and Lord John Stevens committed perjury at the 2008 London inquest into the deaths. Morgan shows that Condon and his former assistant Sir David Veness fabricated documentation to support the false inquest testimony of Condon, Stevens and Veness.

Morgan has spent over seven years investigating the evidence relating to the crash in the Alma Tunnel, and the subsequent cover-up by the British and French authorities. The Diana Inquest series of books are based on forensic analysis of the testimony heard during the 2007-08 inquest, and also on evidence from the British police investigation that was withheld from the inquest jury.
Another shocking revelation in this latest volume is that on the day of the Paris crash a corrupt officer, who was unavailable and had a clear conflict of interest, was chosen to lead the British police investigation – ahead of others who were more available and appropriate.

In October 1995 Princess Diana relayed her fear to Lord Mishcon about an orchestrated car crash and the following day Mishcon drew up a note that became known as the Mishcon Note. After the 1997 car crash that killed Diana, Mishcon delivered that note to then police commissioner, Lord Paul Condon.
Instead of investigating the allegation from Diana in the Mishcon Note, Condon illegally locked it away in his office safe – and there it stayed for the remaining 2½ years of his tenure at Scotland Yard and then for a further 3½ years under Lord Stevens.
Speaking in Brisbane, Australia, John Morgan said that not only was the suppression of the Mishcon Note illegal, but at the inquest Condon and Stevens both committed perjury by stating it was Mishcon who had insisted on the suppression. “They besmirched the name of Victor Mishcon who was dead and unable to defend himself” Morgan said. “But not only that, these senior officers – who Mishcon entrusted with investigating the note – went to great lengths to fabricate documentation to support their false testimony that Mishcon had agreed with the suppression of his note.”
Morgan went on to say that it is very significant that the London inquest jury were prevented from hearing Victor Mishcon’s official police statement. “All the jury heard was evidence from the three dishonest cops: Paul Condon, John Stevens and David Veness”.
The actions of Condon, Stevens and Veness in relation to the Mishcon Note are currently under investigation in Paris by Judge Gerard Caddeo.
John Morgan – described recently by Uncensored magazine as “indisputably the world’s leading expert on the assassination of Princess Diana” – has now written nine books on the Paris crash and surrounding events, including last year’s page-turning summary, entitled Paris-London Connection.
Morgan has been battling a severe neurological illness – multiple system atrophy – for the last ten years. His health has continued to deteriorate in the last few months and he has said that he now expects this could be his last book on the Paris crash. Morgan said: “I was hoping to finish off the series with the final volume early in 2014, but unfortunately the way this illness is heading that now seems to be very unlikely.”

New evidence past to police via military sources alledging Diana was murdered
New information that alleges Princess Diana was murdered has been passed to Scotland Yard through military sources, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The information, thought to include the allegation that the Princess of Wales, Dodi al Fayed and their driver were killed by a member of the British military, will be assessed by officers from the Specialist Crime and Operations Command.
It was passed to the police by the former parents-in-law of a former soldier, according to Sky sources.
The deaths of the Princess Diana and Mr al Fayed in Paris in 1997 were investigated and examined during a 90-day inquest led by Lord Justice Scott Baker at the Royal Court of Justice in 2007.
On April 7, 2008, the jury concluded their verdict as "unlawful killing, grossly negligent driving of the following vehicles and of the Mercedes".
The Metropolitan Police added the assessment was not a re-investigation and does not come under Operation Paget - the inquiry led by Lord Stevens into conspiracy theories surrounding Princess Diana and Mr al Fayed's deaths.
After the inquest, the Metropolitan Police said it had spent £8m on services arising from it and the Operation Paget investigation from 2004 to 2006.
Former Met Police commissioner Lord Stevens published his report in December 2006, rejecting claims that Princess Diana and Mr al Fayed had been murdered.
Sky's Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "We understand this information includes an allegation that Princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed and the driver of their car were killed by a member of the British military.
"The information we're told was passed to Scotland Yard quite recently. It also includes, we understand, references to something known as Diana's diary.
"These are very early days, the information has just come in, and Scotland Yard is adamant in saying that this is not a reopening of its investigation from 2004 when it spent three years looking into the circumstances of the Princess' death.
"But it is taking the information seriously and it is considering and it is possible that a new investigation may open."
Diana, Mr al Fayed and their driver Henri Paul died after the Mercedes crashed in a Paris tunnel on August 31, 1997.
Officers concluded it was a tragic accident caused by the negligent driving of Mr Paul as he tried to evade photographers who chased the car as it left the Ritz in Paris.
Diana's bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones survived the crash.
However, an inquest jury in 2008 returned a verdict of unlawful killing due to the negligent driving of Mr Paul and the photographers. Last night the family of Mr Paul welcomed the development.
His mother Gisele, 83, said: "We believe there was a plot to kill the Princess. We know in our hearts that our son was murdered and we still live in hope that one day the truth will be known."
Shortly before she died, Diana wrote a chilling letter to her former butler Paul Burrell saying she had entered "the most dangerous phase" of her life.
She spoke of a plot to tamper with the brakes of her car to cause a crash and "serious head injury".

I find that the assassination angle has to be worked up saying: obviously there was a "plot against the kennedys: JFK, RFK, Teddy's mishap and JFK Jr - all a pattern or are you serious about that they were all coincidences?" Having established that there is a mean world with SAS officiers such as Ranulph Fiennes admitting that there were Boston Brakes assassination techniques, then the deliberate killing of Diana can then be accepted.
Do we know whether Diana was buckled in her seat? Apparently she always buckled up - but not that night (apparently). As you pointed out she was alive after the crash (yet Dodi was dead).

I thought the interviewer was actually giving Tony a lot of space to put across his point of view. With a name like Steve Satan he was obviously playing Devils advocate by raising the obvious questions regarding method.

Alan Power claims Diana, who died in a Paris car crash 16 years ago yesterday, was killed by MI6 with military help.
The Sunday Express has learnt that a former SAS soldier who claims to have served in an assassination team known as The Increment worked closely with him on his explosive new book, The Princess Diana Conspiracy. Mr Power says he will protect his sources but we have learnt that he has twice offered to hand over sensitive files to Yard officers. Last night he said from his home on the Isle of Man: “I am happy to help them in any way I can but they have not taken up my offer so far. I am tempted to consider they don’t want to know. That is my belief.”
However, we understand detectives have given him a crime number, RCAD3177, and that officers will be contacting him in the coming weeks.
Police launched their investigation after being told that another former SAS soldier, unknown to Mr Power, informed his estranged in-laws that the regiment was behind the crash that killed the 36-year-old Princess, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, 42, and chauffeur Henri Paul.
As flowers were laid at the Alma tunnel in Paris and outside Kensington Palace in London yesterday in memory of the Princess, Mr Power insisted he was not trying to cash in on the tragedy, saying he was seeking “justice for Diana”. In his preface for the book, he states: “Diana was murdered by MI6 with military aid’’ but does not produce overwhelming evidence to support his theory or name the assassins.
Explaining the role of the so-called Increment team, he wrote: “The secret paramilitary organisation comprises troops from the SAS and SBS military for the purposes of carrying out lethal operations, as described by Richard Tomlinson.”
Former MI6 agent Tomlinson told the inquest into Diana and Dodi’s deaths that he was aware of a colleague’s proposal to kill Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic by using a strobe light in a tunnel to distract his driver, causing a crash. At the inquest Sir Richard Dearlove, former head of the Secret Intelligence Service, denied MI6 was involved in Diana’s death, claiming that Tomlinson’s evidence about the strobe light was “spurious” and that he had elaborated bits of information he had heard to make mischief for the service.
He denied that security service staff were trained to use strobe lights for disorientation.
Lawyer Michael Mansfield, QC, said the Milosevic assassination suggestion entailed the use of “the Increment, a small cell of SAS and SBS specially selected and trained to carry out operations for MI5 and MI6”.
Sir Richard responded: “I am not going to speculate or comment. There are a number of capabilities that SIS had. I am not going to confirm or deny whether the ones you are mentioning are part of the service’s capabilities. The services’s capability is the service’s capability but I do not think that has anything to do with this inquest into the death of Princess Diana.”
Asked to comment on Mr Power’s claims, Scotland Yard said: “The Metropolitan Police is scoping recent information regarding the deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed. This scoping exercise is not complete.”
In a separate development a man who worked with Diana on her landmines campaign has come forward to claim she was killed because she was upsetting shadowy figures in the arms industry.
Retired soldier Rory Allen said her condemnation of a host of lethal armaments had upset certain “figures”. Shortly before she died, Diana visited Bosnia to highlight the death and injury caused by landmines there.
South Africa-based military consultant Mr Allen claims she was also planning to expand her campaign to the Middle East by joining him in a mine clearance exercise. She had offered to support his Operation Khamsin project to clear mines at El Alamein in Egypt’s western desert. “She was going to make a big speech in Egypt and speak in other countries,” he claimed.
A letter from The Office of Diana, Princess of Wales to Mr Allen, signed by Mrs Colin MacMillan, says: “The Princess was touched that you took the trouble to write following the documentary film of her visit to Angola and was interested to read of your various projects.
“The Princess of Wales hopes that the world now has a better understanding of the suffering caused by anti-personnel mines and that there will be an opportunity to visit some of the 65 other countries affected in the same manner. Your letter meant a great deal to the Princess who has asked me to send you her heartfelt thanks.”
Mr Allen, who is recovering in England after an illness, said: “Through my contacts in the mine clearance industry I was reliably informed that the humanitarian efforts of Diana had incurred the disapproval of certain figures because of her declared condemnation of the use of cluster-bombs, depleted uranium shells and phosphorus munitions, all of which greatly boost the lethality of the regions over which hostilities have been waged.
“She had been calling for an international ban on the production and deployment of these items, which had been produced in a number of countries, including the UK, and used in the Kosovo and Serbian conflicts.”
At the inquest into her and Dodi’s deaths, coroner Mr Justice Scott Baker told jurors Diana’s friend Simone Simmons said the Princess was preparing a report that she was going to call “Profiting Out Of Misery”.
It was said she was going to name names and show that the British Government and public figures were profiting from the proliferation of landmines. Top of the list of “culprits” was allegedly going to be the SIS.
In 2008 the jury returned verdicts that the Princess and Dodi had been unlawfully killed and blamed the driving of chauffeur Henri Paul, who had been drinking, and the driving of “following vehicles”.
Witness Francois Levistre said a white flash of light was directed at the couple's Mercedes, causing the crash. Mr Levistre said he stopped near the tunnel exit and claimed he saw a motorcycle passenger get off, approach the car, look inside and make a hand gesture to the bike’s driver before they sped away. Those two and drivers of other vehicles have never been traced.
The Scotland Yard spokesman yesterday added: “The deaths of Diana and Dodi were thoroughly investigated by Operation Paget.

Poor Princess Diana. I hesitate to use the term "car crash cinema". But the awful truth is that, 16 years after that terrible day in 1997, she has died another awful death. This is due to an excruciatingly well-intentioned, reverential and sentimental biopic about her troubled final years, laced with bizarre cardboard dialogue – a tabloid fantasy of how famous and important people speak in private.
Is this film an MI5 plot to blacken Diana's name and make her look plastic and absurd? The movie isn't so much Mills & Boon as a horrendous Fifty Shades of Grey with the S&M sex taken out – and replaced with paparazzi intrusion and misunderstood charity work.
I read a piece where there were furious telephone calls as the ambulance was stopped. (I can't find a link). Probably to decide what to do or to ensure that the body would be embalmed to ensure evidence would be destroyed.

After posting the press release yesterday regarding Monday's Scotland Yard SAS report, I received feedback that it was virtually impossible for a member of the public to find a copy of it. This is despite the fact that it is supposed to have been publicly released.
I recommend you go through the police report - it is not very long and is an interesting read. It is indicative of how Scotland Yard has treated the British public regarding the death of Princess Diana. I suggest that it is no coincidence that the police have made this report very difficult for the public to find.

Spotted an interesting YouTube comment
David Spedding, Richard Spearman, Richard Dearlove ( head of MI6) and Sherad Cowper-Coles, were ordered to come up with a plot to kill Diana. The order came from Prince Phillip. The Queen probably said something like, "get ride of her" or "do what you think is best", to Prince Philip. Diana survived the sophisticated, premeditated, vehicular homicide attack and was finished of the ambulance at the hands of dr. Arnoud Derossi and dr. Jean Marc Martino, ( both DGSE ), who wasn't a qualified physician on the 31.8.1997. This is the ambulance "physician", responsible for Princess Diana´s medical treatment, so now blame can be attributed to French incompetence. Princess Diana was in the Alma Tunnel for 81 minutes from 00:23-01:44 and she was in the ambulance for 60 minutes from 01:06-02:06, if his had been Jacque Chirac, would they have left him in the tunnel for 81 minutes ? Would they have left in the ambulance for 60 minutes ? They would have transported him immediately probably with helicopter after stabilizing him, to the Val de Grace or the American Hospital where they have specialists on duty around the clock, but not Diana. She was transported to La Pitie Salpetriere, 3.8 miles from the Alma tunnel, even though the Val de Grace and the American Hospital are closer, and all VIPs are taken there. They took her to La Pitie, and the ambulance stopped for approx 5 - 7 minutes outside La Pitie. When Jean Marc Martino was questioned about this he said, that he was adjusting Diana´s drip. But investigative journalists Pierre Sue and Thierry Orban, saw the ambulance rocking from side to side, so what was Martino doing ? Diana hadn't arrested and cardiac massage requires total absence of movement, so what was Martino doing ?! When she was delivered at 02:06, there was no cardio-thoracic surgeon present. Dr. Derossi and Dr. Martino have had 01:43 minutes to ascertain, Diana´s injuries but threre is no cardio-thoracic surgeon present on arrival. Dr. Alan Pavie was asleep at home when he received a call at 02:10, Diana died effectively at 02:12 from a cardiac arrest, the only cardiac arrest, she suffered that night. Diana did not have a cardiac arrest in the Alma tunnel, but an electromechanical dissociation of the heart for 2 seconds, this is something totally different from a ventricular fibrillation that leads to a cardiac arrest. Jean Marc Martino admitted this at the Inquest under pressure from cardio-thoracic specialist Tom Tressure. So why didn't he move the ambulance out of the tunnel for 81 minutes ? It took them 01:43 minutes to deliver her to hospital, distance 3.8 miles. Are you kidding me ? At 04:00 Princess Diana´s official time of death is pronounced. At 04:03, the Queen turns dead Diana back into a Royal. Why ? On the 28th of august 1996, she stripped Diana of her HRH title. The Queen removed Diana´s Royal Status. So why would she welcome dead Diana back into the Royal family a year later ? She even drapped Diana´s coffin in the Royal Standard ? Because this was about the Queens agenda to control Diana´s dead body. This in turn allowed her to control the UK post-mortem and the samples taken and the later Inquest. THAT was the Queens primary objective. Within 25 hours Diana had been through 2 illegal post-morrtems and 2 illegal embalming. What they did to Diana´s dead body and what they did to Diana in the ambulance...........should make anyone with a conscience extremely angry! Instead of putting her in a refrigerated morgue, they put her in an overheated room, with no air-condition and a big panorama window. It was blistering hot, so now they have a pretext for the illegal French embalming. No documentation was completed. There was no authorisation and Diana´s family were not consulted, as is required under French Law. Hugette Amarger drained Diana´s bladder completely for urine. Diana´s blood had been replaced. So now reliable toxicology testing is impossible. La Pitie Salpetriere Hospital has always denied taking a blood sample of Diana and the samples that were taken, were omitted from the Mules report. The Jury never saw Diana´s death certificate JM/12, filled out by Professor Bruno Riou, at 04:20, who ticked YES for medico-legal-problem, which means there were suspicious circumstances surrounding Diana´s death. The Jury never saw any medical certificate stating that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, they never saw Diana´s post-mortem, the toxicological report, the embalming certificate or the burial certificate..........why ? Why are their no documents relating to Princess Diana ? Because this is far more sinister than anyone can comprehend, removing all documentation disclaims of any legal responsibility. Who ordered the illegal French embalming ? No evidence exists. I suggest you read John Morgan's little compilation: The Paris-London Connection from 2012 which is an introduction to his acclaimed Inquest series, particularly volume 2, the medical mistreatments of Diana, is difficult to read. But also corruption at Scotland Yard and the Metropolitan Police is covered in volume 6. BBC bosses have shelved a controversial documentary about the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death after legal pressure from Prince Charles, it has been claimed.
The two-part documentary Reinventing The Royals has been axed from its prime-time 9pm slot this Sunday.
It claims that the Royal Family employed PR experts who used controversial ‘spin’ tactics to make Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles more appealing to the public after Diana was killed in 1997.
Presented by former Panorama Editor Steve Hewlett, the hour-long documentary had already been included in BBC schedules after being cleared by BBC lawyers, the corporation’s editorial policy team and at the highest level of management.
However it is understood it was put on hold at the last minute by BBC news chief James Harding after lawyers acting on behalf of Charles and Camilla wrote of their concerns to the BBC.

The documentary includes the first TV interview with Sandy Henney, who was press secretary to Prince Charles when Diana died.
She said: “I remember briefing one of our private secretaries on the phone saying, ‘I know you’re seeing this on television but you really have to be here to feel the atmosphere.
‘The people here are really anti-monarchy.’ I was really worried about where it was going to go.”

A West End play which opened this week claims Princess Diana was pregnant with Dodi Fayed's child when she died in the Paris car crash.
Controversial theories surrounding the Princess's life, and death, are raised in new 'factional' production Truth, Lies, Diana, which had its opening night in London on Friday.
Among allegations aired in the show, which is centred on a fictional playwright investigating Diana's death, are claims she was pregnant with a 'Muslim baby' when she died on August 31, 1997.
Jon Conway, who also directs and appears in the show, wrote the play using transcripts from the inquest into the Princess's death, leaked official documents and interviews with her former lover James Hewitt and butler Paul Burrell.
Both are depicted in the play, which also features actors playing Dodi's father Mohammed Al-Fayed and Piers Morgan, as well as other members of the Royal family - although Diana herself is not seen on stage.
Claims the Princess was pregnant were dismissed by at the inquest, but the play includes details from a testimony Conway says was given to him by the ex-girlfriend of a doctor at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital where Diana was formally declared dead.
In the play, 'Rose', a British forensic officer, is seen claiming the doctor, 'Yasser', had called another health worker on the night Diana died.
'Yasser said to him in Arabic, "I can’t believe the news. Were you on duty?" Then he said, "Yes, yes... What? She was pregnant?", she says in the play, according to the Sunday Mirror's Patrick Hill.
'The other doctor told Yasser he saw the foetus and was told never to mention it. Yasser said, "Yes, imagine that, the King of England’s mother, pregnant with a Muslim baby".'
When asked why she and Yasser had not spoken out at the time of Diana's death because to protect their careers, but says she feels it is now time for 'the truth'.
The play, which runs at the Charing Cross theatre until February 14, also includes claims by Hewitt that Diana had discovered Prince Charles was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles days before their 1981 wedding, and had wanted to cancel the ceremony.
Hewitt, who has given his blessing to his depiction in the show, is also seen claiming Diana knew that Prince Philip had alleged flings, but that he and the Queen had 'an arrangement'.

Over English tea served in fine china cups at a sumptuous Paris apartment last November, an astonishing meeting took place to discuss the death of 36-year-old Diana, Princess of Wales.
The conversation was cordial. A butler carrying a teapot and tray of delicate sandwiches moved smoothly between the guests in the richly decorated drawing room of a building owned by the British Government, near the famous Champs Elysees.
In one Victorian armchair sat Lord Stevens, the respected former head of Scotland Yard. He had just finished a three-year investigation called Operation Paget into whether there was a conspiracy to murder the most famous woman in the world ten years ago and a cover-up to hide the truth.
The Princess was travelling with her Muslim lover Dodi Fayed in a Mercedes car when it smashed into the 13th column of the Pont D'Alma road tunnel in Paris at 12.23am on Sunday, August 31, 1997.
She was mortally injured, dying in hospital three-and-a-half hours later. Dodi was killed instantly, as was the driver of the car, Henri Paul.
Since that moment, the controversy over Princess Diana's death has not abated. There is a veritable conspiracy theory industry which claims the Princess was assassinated, some even say at the instigation of the Royal Family or the British intelligence services because she was pregnant with Dodi's baby.
The report of Lord Stevens is now published. It concludes that Diana died in a tragic road accident. The report was meant to provide the final, unequivocal chapter on her death and a factual framework for her inquest which will begin next Tuesday.
Yet, if anything, the debate over how and why the Princess came to die is fiercer than ever. At the epicentre of this brouhaha is Lord Stevens himself.
For in the Paris apartment last November, he met the parents of the Mercedes driver Henri Paul for the first time. The couple must have been apprehensive.
No one in the Diana saga has been more vilified than their 41-year-old son. Within 24 hours of the accident he was being blamed for driving "like a lunatic" through the tunnel while "drunk as a pig".
Nevertheless, Giselle and Jean Paul, in their 70s, had bravely made the journey from their home in Brittany, on the west coast of France, to hear exactly what Britain's most famous policeman had to say about their son.
Lord Stevens soon put their minds at rest. The couple had hardly sat down before the peer assured them that Henri Paul had not been drunk - indeed, he'd had only two drinks that night.
As the meeting finished on November 8, 2006, the couple shook hands with Lord Stevens and went off with their heads held high. "We were pleased to hear our son was innocent as we always believed," Mr Paul senior told the Mail this week.
Yet a little over a month later the world was to hear a very different account from Lord Stevens. The 832-page Operation Paget report, compiled by 14 Scotland Yard detectives at a cost of £3.7 million, was published on December 14, 2006.
It declared that Henri Paul was driving at double the speed limit - 60mph - and had consumed a very considerable amount of alcohol before ferrying Diana and Dodi in the Mercedes from the Ritz Hotel in Paris to a private flat, where they were staying.
The driver was twice over the British drink-drive limit and three times over the French one. An expert cited in the report estimated that Paul had sunk the equivalent of ten small glasses of Ricard, his favorite liquorice-flavoured French aperitif, before taking the wheel.
If he had survived, he would be liable to prosecution for causing death by dangerous driving. It was a damning indictment of the dead driver, conflicting sharply with the account given by Lord Stevens to Henri Paul's mother and father.
Now grief can do terrible things to people's minds and it is possible Henri Paul's parents misunderstood or misheard Lord Stevens. However, detailed and contemporaneous notes of the meeting by an Operation Paget police officer suggest that this was not the case.
So why did Lord Stevens appear to have such a massive change of heart in less than five weeks? Did the policeman nicknamed Captain Beaujolais because of his love of fine wines come under pressure to change the conclusions of Operation Paget? It seems implausible.
Yet this troubling question has been aired at the preliminary hearings, overseen by High Court judge Lord Justice Scott Baker, for the forthcoming inquest on Diana and her lover. Controversially, the judge - acting as coroner - will now order the jury to entirely disregard the Operation Paget report. It is a slap in the face for Lord Stevens. The contents have been removed from an official website linked to the inquest.
Lord Justice Scott Baker insists that 20 vital questions on Diana's death - and possible murder - still have to be answered.
They cover such matters as: whether Henri Paul was drunk or taking drugs; the possible pregnancy of Diana and why she was embalmed on British Embassy orders just an hour before her body was flown home to London, a process nullifying any later tests on whether she was expecting a baby; the presence, if any, of the secret intelligence service, MI6, in the French capital on the night she died; and the enduring mystery of why the Princess feared for her life.
Significantly, the judge has ordered that hundreds of explosive background documents, witness statements and tape recordings garnered during his investigation must now be made available to the jury. Some were not even alluded to in the Operation Paget report. The background files cover the most contentious allegations surrounding the Princess's death.
For instance, a tape recording of one unnamed informant claims that the Queen's Private Secretary, Robert Fellowes, who was also Diana's brother-in-law, was in the French capital an hour before the crash and was seen in the telecommunications room of the British Embassy [which had allegedly established a tunnel into the Red Switch Network for a spot fixed crash scene to be set at six and seven = 13]. (For his part, he insists he was at home in Norfolk all night.)
Another piece of evidence, detailed in a sworn witness statement from an American man, states categorically that Diana told a close female friend that she was pregnant just before she died, although she never named the father.
The files also delve deep into the lifestyle of Henri Paul. To understand his pivotal role, one must return to the days following the Princess's death.
The world was aghast. Flowers were heaped in Hyde Park, London, outside her home at Kensington Palace. Ordinary men and women wept in the streets across the globe.
Over in Paris, there was grieving too. Yet there was also something strange afoot. Within hours, rumours began to circulate that the driver of the Mercedes had killed the Princess. By the Monday morning of September 1 - little more than a day after the crash - the French newspaper and television were publishing reports that Henri Paul had consumed "grossly excessive quantities of alcohol" and the speedometer of the Mercedes had jammed at 121mph. None of these stories was denied by the authorities.
Indeed, the allegations grew more detailed. On September 9 there were reports that a search of Henri Paul's flat in Paris had revealed a veritable drinking den. Shelves were groaning with bottles of spirits and wine. Tables were littered with bottles of vodka, Martini and fortified wines, while the kitchen contained open bottles of Ricard and American bourbon. The reports contradicted what is now known to be the truth. An inspection of Henri Paul's flat by the detectives of the French Brigade Criminale much earlier - 48 hours after the crash - had found only copious bottles of soda water and just one bottle of champagne and a bottle of Martini.
Nevertheless the story that Henri Paul, a deputy security chief at the Ritz Hotel in Paris who had stepped in at the last moment to drive the couple, was a hopeless alcoholic gained credence.
Conspiracy theorists ask was he deliberately turned into the scapegoat? Was the driver, suspected of being a paid informant of the French and British intelligence services, used to cover up a much more sinister set of events?
Almost every person who talked to Henri Paul that night has since confirmed that he did not appear intoxicated before he set off into the Paris night.
Furthermore, a crucial blood sample taken from Henri Paul's suit jacket after his death - and the only one that has been firmly linked to him by DNA testing on his mother Giselle - shows no measurable trace of alcohol in his body.
In addition, a carbohydrate deficient transferring test 'proving' he was an alcoholic and conducted by the French authorities on Henri Paul after his death has also been undermined. A CDT test, the inquest will be told, is unreliable if performed on a dead body.
Meanwhile, what of the clutch of blood samples taken from his body in the days after the crash. They, apparently, showed that Henri Paul was hopelessly drunk. But were they really his own?
Intriguingly, they contained a medicine called albendazole, which the driver's doctor said he was never prescribed. It is a drug taken to get rid of tapeworms and given to downandouts on the streets.
Could they have come from a dead Paris tramp lying in the public mortuary alongside Henri Paul?
Equally puzzling is that the same clutch of blood samples revealed no sign of another medicine named acamprosate, which Paul had been prescribed. It is the only solid piece of evidence that he was a heavy drinker.
The driver was worried about his love of Ricard and had begged his doctor to give him the drug, designed to help alcoholics reduce their intake without cravings.
Pertinently, his doctor has since said that he felt Paul was worrying unnecessarily, as his drinking was moderate.
There is another dilemma, too.
The Henri Paul blood samples at the very heart of the Diana controversy reveal something else quite bizarre - that he had breathed in a very high quantity of carbon monoxide before his death: the same amount as a person committing suicide by putting a rubber hose from the exhaust through the window of his car.
Such a level would have left Paul visibly disorientated and almost certainly comatose. Yet at the Ritz that evening, minutes before he drove Diana, the CCTV cameras show him walking normally and even kneeling down to retie his shoe laces and gracefully standing up again. It is now accepted that he never drew breath after the crash, ruling out the possibility that he inhaled poisonous exhaust fumes. Significantly, Dodi's blood was tested and was shown to contain no carbon monoxide.
The tainted blood samples remain - as Lord Stevens and toxicology experts say in the Operation Paget report - a complete mystery. One possible explanation is that they are not the driver's blood at all but come from someone else in the public mortuary who had committed suicide that weekend.
So were the samples tampered with? Were they mistakenly, or deliberately, swopped with those from another corpse?
The first samples of blood taken from the driver's body were left unattended and unlabeled in a fridge at the mortuary for more than a day until Monday, September 1.
So what will happen next? Lord Stevens is to be called as a witness at the inquest. He will be asked by lawyers for Henri Paul's family about the 'gross discrepancy' between the soothing account he gave in the Paris apartment on their son and the one contained in the official Operation Paget report.
He is also likely to be quizzed on the plethora of evidence on Diana's death never included in his final report. Of particular concern is the testimony of a Paris jeweler, who sold Dodi an engagement ring on the day before the crash, sparking theories that the playboy was about to propose to Diana.
Of course, Diana might well have turned down any such marriage. But the jeweller, in a written complaint, says that he was pressured - unsuccessfully - by the Paget detectives to change his tale and say it was just a 'friendship' ring. There are other worrying matters too. The preliminary inquest hearings have revealed that important eyewitnesses of the crash - including those claiming there was a blinding flash in the tunnel and that they saw a mystery white Fiat Uno at the scene which may have deliberately clipped Diana and Dodi's Mercedes, causing the accident - were never interviewed by Lord Stevens' team.
Instead, his detectives relied heavily on old statements made years ago to the French police. Now Lord Justice Scott Baker has ruled that crash onlookers and other witnesses should give evidence via video links from Paris and in person at the London inquest. The jury will be taken to the accident site in the Alma tunnel in the French capital.
One important new witness will be a French fireman, Christophe Pelat. He discovered the body of a paparazzi photographer named James Andanson - thought by conspiracy theorists to have been driving the white Fiat Uno - in a remote woodland with a shot in the head three years after the crash.
It was always said that Andanson had committed suicide after marital problems. The photographer amassed millions selling photographs of Diana and is suspected of tipping off British, American and French intelligence services on the Princess's movements during her last holiday.
Andanson gave conflicting accounts of his movements to French police. They concluded that he was not in Paris on the night of the crash, although he had chased the couple relentlessly as they cruised on Dodi's yacht the Jonikel in the days beforehand.
Why, one might ask, would he have stopped following her when there was still money to be made?
The evidence of Christophe Pelat is vital. It might indicate that Andanson knew the truth and was disposed of. Yet the fireman's name and testimony - just like those of many others - appeared nowhere in the Operation Paget report in what was billed as the definitive account on Diana's death.
Of course, all this must be somewhat discomforting for Lord Stevens. As a life peer and now an international security adviser to Gordon Brown, he moves in the upper echelons of society with a hitherto untarnished halo as a formidable investigator.
Meanwhile, Lord Justice Scott Baker faces the challenging task of guiding a jury through a monumentally complex inquest. For if the 12 men and women leave their verdict open - if there is no conclusion on the cause of the Princess's tragic death - there will have to be a police inquiry.

Fourteen years after her death, new evidence has emerged that Princess Diana was murdered in an MI6-organized ‘Boston brakes’ operation.
Following the 2008 Royal Inquest debacle, which ruled out MI6 involvement in Diana’s death, new evidence has come to light which challenges the ‘official verdict’.
In their book, Princess Diana: The Evidence, authors Jon King and John Beveridge present evidence that a highly sophisticated assassination technique was used to cause the princess’s vehicle to crash as it drove through the Alma tunnel, Paris, in the early hours of August 31st, 1997.
The ‘Boston brakes’, they reveal, is the most favored assassination technique employed by the West’s intelligence services due to its deniability.
For many years following the princess’s death, the authors delved the smoke-and-mirrors underworld of political assassination, gleaning what information they could from well-placed intelligence contacts and former special and elite forces—mercenaries, royal bodyguards, and on occasion, hired assassins.
Some of these crack military freelancers disclosed details of prior operations in which the ‘Boston brakes’ had been successfully used. Others, who fought in Angola, home of Diana’s land mines campaign, threw light on the secret oil and diamond wars still raging in central Africa, and in particular the dirty arms-for-oil deals carried out by MI6, FrenchDGSE, the CIA and the Bush-Cheney oil syndicate.
The authors were told that by focusing the light of the world’s media on Angola the princess was in danger of exposing these deals, and was thus placing herself “in grave danger”. For obvious reasons some of the sources quoted in the book remain anonymous. But many are named.
Princess Diana Assassination: A People’s Inquiry The SAS And The Clinic Speaking of the ‘Boston brakes’ operation which he believed killed Princess Diana, former SAS sergeant, Dave Cornish, exclusively revealed:
“From the minute the decoy car left the Ritz to the moment the tail car closed in … it was obvious what was going down. Anyone who knows what they’re talking about’ll tell you the same.” And former Royal bodyguard, Mike Grey, added:
“The operation bore all the classic hallmarks of a security service assassination …. I have no doubts whatsoever, given my twenty years experience in various sections of the security industry, that Diana was assassinated. The security service hallmarks are plain to see.” But it was former SAS officer and world-famous explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who offered perhaps the most telling revelation of all.
The ‘Boston brakes’ method of assassination, Fiennes reveals, has been in use since at least the 1980s, and deploys a microchip transceiver which takes over the target vehicle’s steering and brakes at the critical moment.
The method, he says, was first deployed by the CIA in Boston, hence the name. But it has since been adopted by intelligence and security forces the world over, as well as by private security firms and their hit squads.
Fiennes also confirms that the death by ‘road traffic accident’ of SAS Major Michael Marman in England in 1986 was the result of a Boston brakes operation carried out by a private hit squad known as The Clinic.
Princess Diana Assassination: A People’s Inquiry The Attempt To Assassinate Camilla
Further instances of the Boston brakes in action are also cited in the book, including the death by ‘road traffic accident’ of Diana’s former lover and bodyguard, Barry Mannakee, in 1987, and – staggeringly – the attempted assassination by ‘road traffic accident’ of Camilla Parker Bowles just two months prior to Diana’s own fatal crash.
The story of this never-before-disclosed incident is recounted in some detail in the book. According to sources quoted by the authors, the attempt on Camilla Parker Bowles’s life was the result of a “constitutional crisis” engendered by Prince Charles’s desire to marry his long-term lover while Diana was still alive.
Indeed, according to Tony Wright, then parliamentary aide to the Lord Chancellor, the crisis was so severe it almost resulted in the disestablishment of the Church The Independent.
As the authors point out, such a move would have amounted to the biggest, most far-reaching constitutional reforms since Henry VIII. And we all know what happened to one or two of his wives…

Other revelations in the book include an interview with a well-known Harley Street specialist [named in the book] who became Diana’s nutritional guru.
Fearing she might have been pregnant, the authors reveal, Diana visited her nutritional guru for dietary advice prior to her final holiday with Dodi Fayed. Following her visit the specialist’s Harley Street clinic was broken into and his computer stolen.
And there are many other fresh concerns raised in this uncompromising cross-examination of the ‘accident theory’, in which the authors assume the roles of prosecuting counsels in what is in effect a ‘people’s inquiry’.
Not least among these concerns is the anomaly surrounding Diana’s seat-belt, which, the authors reveal, was found by the Operation Paget team to have been “jammed in the retracted position” and thus unusable—a fact, like so many others, brushed aside by the Royal Inquest.”
“White's is a gentleman's club in St James's Street, London. It is the oldest and most exclusive gentleman's club in London. It gained a reputation in the 18th century for both its exclusivity and the often raffish behaviour of its members. Notable current members include Charles, Prince of Wales, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Conrad Black and Tom Stacey. British Prime Minister David Cameron was formerly a member for fifteen years but resigned in 2008, despite his father Ian Cameron having previously been the club's chairman, over the club's refusal to admit women. White's continues to be a men-only establishment; the only exception being made during a visit by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991. White's is a member of the Association of London Clubs.
The club was originally established at 4 Chesterfield Street, off Curzon Street in Mayfair, in 1693 by an Italian immigrant named Francesco Bianco as a hot chocolate emporium under the name Mrs. White's Chocolate House. Tickets were sold to the productions at King's Theatre and Royal Drury Lane Theatre as a side-business. White's quickly made the transition from teashop to exclusive club and in the early 18th century, White's was notorious as a gambling house and those who frequented it were known as "the gamesters of White's." Jonathan Swift referred to White's as the "bane of half the English nobility."
In 1778 it moved to 37-38 St James's Street. From 1783 it was the unofficial headquarters of the Tory party, while the Whigs' club Brooks's was just down the road. A few apolitical and affable gentlemen managed to belong to both. The new architecture featured a bow window on the ground floor. In the later 18th century, the table directly in front of it became a seat of privilege, the throne of the most socially influential men in the club. This belonged to the arbiter elegantiarum, Beau Brummell, until he removed to the Continent in 1816, when Lord Alvanley took the place of honour. It was here that Alvanley bet a friend £3,000 as to which of two raindrops would first reach the bottom of a pane of the bow window. It is not recorded whether he won his bet.
This was not the most eccentric bet in White's famous betting book. Some of those entries were on sports, but more often on political developments, especially during the chaotic years of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars [White’s members allegedly bet on body counts]. A good many were social bets, such as whether a friend would marry this year, or whom.
Despite the club's refusal to admit women as members, one of its best known chefs from the early 1900s was Rosa Lewis, a model for the central character in the BBC television series The Duchess of Duke Street.
Prince Charles held his stag night at the club before his wedding to Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.”
“Spot-fixing refers to illegal activity in a sport where a specific part of a game is fixed. Examples include something as minor as timing a no ball or wide delivery in cricket or timing the first throw-in or corner in association football. Spot-fixing attempts to defraud bookmakers illegally by means of a player agreeing to under perform to order by pre-arrangement.
